Painted
Desert looks invitingly simple, but it is a perfect example of how
looks can be deceiving. The course measures 6,840 yards from the
back tees, while it is 6,323 from the middle and 5,711 from the
forward tees. This is a course where accuracy and the ability to
think on a course are rewarded because Painted Desert is one of
the most pleasurable layouts in all of Clark County.
The
condition of the course is immaculate. The greens are in superb
condition and putts all get true rolls. And the fairways are well
manicured and brilliantly green. In addition, there is much desert
landscape and wildlife at Painted Desert, which makes it a scenic
beauty. The eighth hole, a par-3 that plays 193 yards from the back,
is perhaps its most scenic, while at the same time most devilish.
Players are forced to carry their tee shots over a large lake to
a tiny green surrounded by three bunkers. From a scenic point of
view, the hole is stunning. Painted Desert is an exceptionally enjoyable
golf experience!
